ISKO UK Meetup - Semantic Web for BIM Based Construction Management

In our first Meetup of 2025, Asha Palihakkara will share details of her research into application of semantic web technologies and ontologies in Building Information Modelling (BIM) environment and talk about International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE) that was held in Montreal in 2024.

Asha Palihakkara is a PhD researcher at the University of Nottingham, specialising in Semantic Web applications for automated construction progress monitoring. She holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Asha has an academic background in construction informatics and risk management, having previously worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Moratuwa. She has also contributed to multiple research projects as a Research Assistant, focusing on infrastructure resilience, construction automation, and risk management.
