Automated indexing: implementation case studies

Using a rules based approach to insure fast flexibility Margorie Hlava outlined several case studies in the application of semantic enrichment and metadata suggestions.  The data is not limited to strictly taxonomy subjects but other KOS such as geographic locations - with GPS coordinated, named entity extraction for authors and organizations, medical coding of data using the ICD-10 and other systems.  Another increasingly popular area is in e-commerce and the mapping of UNSPSC or e-class codes for retail purchases across the world.

The class was delivered via Zoom and was attended by 97 participants from 30 countries. Presentation slides are available to all participants via the KO-ED forum on the ISKO UK website.
